Multi-award-winning gospel icon CeCe Winans came, saw, and conquered on Saturday night, August 1, delivering a soul-stirring performance before an estimated 15,000 worshippers gathered on the east lawns of King’s House.
On a night when Jamaica celebrated Emancipation, it was fitting that the atmosphere reflected freedom—not just from physical chains, but spiritual ones. It became a time of release, worship, and healing.
For many, it was an unforgettable thrill to sing along with the platinum-selling American gospel powerhouse. Emotions ran high as tears flowed during heartfelt renditions of songs like Holy Forever, but it was when she launched into Jamaica’s mega-favourite Goodness of God that the crowd erupted—it was nothing short of explosive.
While CeCe was undeniably the star, the evening also shone a light on top-tier local talent. Gospel favourite Kevin Downswell struck a powerful chord with the audience, particularly with his well-loved anthem That’s Enough, which had the crowd singing in unity.
Other standout performances came from Prince Saj and John Mark Wiggan, while MCs Ity Ellis and Nadine Blair kept the energy high and the audience engaged throughout the night.
The event marked the Jamaican leg of CeCe Winans’ international More Than This concert tour, with 100% of the net proceeds set to benefit a range of impactful initiatives: the Governor General’s Programme for Excellence, the Ophthalmology Department at Bustamante Children’s Hospital, Open Door Jamaica Foundation, Student Christian Fellowship and Scripture Union, and Yadel Home for Children.
