Latoya Mullings and her husband Christopher Hayles are cheering hearts and creating a big impact via their social media singing ministry.
Mullings first started the blitz in February 2022, a weekly inspirational one-hour Facebook Live series on Wednesdays entitled Don’t Pass Me By. She said the name was inspired by the beloved hymn “Pass Me Not Oh Gentle Saviour”.
The weekly live got a lot of views and reactions from those who tuned in. One year later, she teamed up with her husband Hayles for a weekly Sunday evening Facebook Live series called Sing With Me Baby, which features a mix of rhythm and blues, reggae, jazz, and country music.
The entertainment showcase consisted of them showing their talents through singing, dancing while promoting love in relationships through music.
“Wow! Never in my wildest dreams did I ever imagine performing with my husband on stage. It has had a very positive impact on our marriage. Our chemistry and communication on stage are indescribable. It has helped to give me a deeper connection with my husband; it’s actually one of my pride and joys to share the stage with a man with so much talent who happens to be my husband and soulmate,” Mullings shared.
Mullings, who hails from the community of New Road District, situated on the border of St. Elizabeth and Westmoreland, now resides in Canada.
The singer who surrendered her life to the Lord at an early age said it was her personal walk with the Lord that continued into adulthood, and for her, it was her belief in God and her willingness to surrender to His will that proved to be the keys to her sustainability and success.
“I was brought up in a Christian home, so I was introduced to Christianity ever since I’ve known myself. I got baptised in my early teens. However, my personal relationship with God developed and matured as an adult. There were times when I knew it had to be only the power of God and my faith that have brought me through tough times,” Mullings disclosed.
Today, she worships at the Toronto West Seventh Day Adventist Church.
A committed Christian, she pointed out that it does not mean her life is perfect—sharing that she has been ‘tried and tested’—she said it was her faith and belief in God that saw her holding on.
Mullings was born into a musical family, and after completing her studies at Black River High School, she moved on to Northern Caribbean University (NCU). When she migrated to Canada, she decided to focus more on developing her music career.
Mullings has released a number of songs to date, including “Take This Cross” and her most recent, “One Foot”.
Aside from music, Mullings has been involved in charity work and impacting the lives of others in a positive way. She has been recognised for her contribution to the community by various organisations in Toronto.
