Natural Remedies for Chikungunya (CHIK-V)

The aim is to reduce pain, inflammation, and boost your immunity.

Papaya Leaf Tea

Why? Contains enzymes (papain) that increase platelets and reduce joint pain.

Jamaican Twist: Boil fresh leaves with ginger (anti-inflammatory).

Turmeric + Coconut Milk

Why? Curcumin in turmeric fights inflammation; coconut fats aid absorption.

How: Golden milk (turmeric, coconut milk, cinnamon) daily. 

[Some persons add a little black pepper that is reputed to aid the absorption of turmeric]

Cerasee Tea

Why? Traditional Jamaican remedy to detoxify blood and reduce fever.

Prep: Steep dried cerasee leaves (bitter but potent!).

Epsom Salt Baths

Why? Magnesium sulphate eases muscle/joint pain (common in Chikungunya).

Hydration with Coconut Water

Why? Electrolytes prevent dehydration from fever; supports liver detox.

Anti-Inflammatory Foods

Eat: pineapple (contains bromelain which is good for pain), moringa, garlic, and citrus (vitamin C).

AVOID: Sugar/processed foods (worsen inflammation). 
STAY ON a whole food plant-based diet filled with nutrients to keep your immune system boosted, and your body will fight off the attack of any virus, including Chik-v.
