The holidays are behind us, the new year has begun, and we thank God for preserving us to this very day. Many have set New Year’s resolutions and are seeking to break old habits, but the ultimate praiseworthy resolve is to live for God by allowing Him to make you part of His new creation, a.k.a., children of God; that is, those who were made new—passing from natural beings to spiritual beings— by the power of His Spirit at the very moment of salvation. We pray you will be diligent in your pursuit of God like never before. This will always prove wise and fruitful because He is a rewarder of those who seek Him diligently (Hebrews 11:6).
As various trials continue to come upon the earth as well as in our lives (and increasingly so with time), you can trust that God’s love for you burns deeply and cannot be doused by any darkness in this world. Therefore, you can be confident that if He dwells in you, you do not have to fear anything this year might bring. Indeed, His perfect love dispels fear!
We pray unceasingly that you will personally know His love this year and be set ablaze by it, leaving a trail that will consume every evil work in your sphere and draw others to Christ. The flame we speak of is the Holy Spirit, the very life and source of power that made Jesus’ time and mission on earth victorious. He lived every day allowing the Holy Spirit to dictate His every thought and emotion towards Himself, others, and God. He always humbled Himself and prayed earnestly for His Father’s strength, then went out with a heart totally committed to obey God and love people, no matter the circumstance.
Not only did He set the pattern/standard, but He has also made a way for us to experience the same power He did.
Now ask yourself, “Do I desire this power Jesus lived in?”
If your answer is yes, it can surely be yours. There is one condition, however:
But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name. John 1:12
YOU MUST BELIEVE
As simple as this may seem, many fail to do it. If you are saved, meaning the Holy Spirit dwells within you, you must believe what God’s Word says about you as His child. Here are a few reminders:
You are a new creation. The old things (of your sinful nature) have passed away, and all things have been made new (everything about you is of God; you have His divine nature). (2 Corinthians 5:17, 2 Peter 1:3-4).
He has lavished His love on you. (Romans 5:5)
Sin no longer has dominion over you. You do not have to sin. (Romans 6:9-14)
You are empowered by Jesus to do all things necessary to please God. (Philippians 4:13)
See, we have no excuses to not burn for Jesus, so let Him shine.
If you are not saved, believe that God loves you so much that He sent His only begotten Son, Jesus, to pay the price for your sins and give you power to overcome them.
Believe with all your heart, cry out to Him, and He will reward you with His Spirit (John 3:16, Romans 10:9). Note that when God says, “with all your heart”, He means He must be your one desire. For such a heart, family, friends, reputation, aspirations, and achievements all pale when compared to knowing God. In other words, He is all you want!
Do not let another year, much less another day, pass without accepting this invitation into the loving arms of God and newness of life. Catch this divine release!
