Dr Steve Lyston always spoke what God revealed
Apostle Dr. Steve Lyston, a prophetic voice who has been used for years by God to foretell what was in store for nations, has been described as bold and uncompromised by those who knew him best.
Apostle Lyston transitioned over the weekend after a brief illness. He presided over
Restoration World Outreach Ministries Inc (RWOMI) in the USA, Africa, and the Caribbean, and also Restoration Outreach Ministries International (ROMI) in Jamaica.
In describing her late husband, Dr. Michelle Lyston said he never allowed anyone or anybody to stop him from standing up for the principles of God.
“He would work for kingdom building; he would work for the Lord. The moment he gave his life to the Lord, he was on rapid, on fire, and ready to go forward for God and in God,” she told listeners of the daily Conversations radio programme on TBC 88 FM, which Apostle Lyston co-hosted for several years.
“Apostle was what I deemed driven, but he wasn’t driven by what we would call filthy lucre. Nope. He wasn’t driven by the influence of men. Nobody could inveigle him to say what they wanted him to say. He always spoke what the Lord said without hesitation,” she declared.
Apostle Lyston has published several books and was a freelance writer. He wrote for the Jamaica Gleaner for several years, and together with his team at RWOMI, drafted the prophecies, which were published annually. The Apostle was one of the visionaries behind the birth of the Freedom Come Rain newspaper and was the author of the column, The Pastor’s Voice, which appears in the weekly publication.
“He has poured into many through his books; he has poured into many through the counsel that he would give and the teachings, one-on-ones, you know, the guidance and the encouragement and all these things,” his wife said, before adding that, “He would spend hours investing in different ones, and so even when he would come on the radio, each morning, he invested, poured out, released, without a complaint.”
Apostle Lyston was very forthright as he echoed the words of God to the nation. He spoke out against injustice, government corruption, and even church leaders who had compromised. His ominous voice was heard in town centres, taxis, the marketplace as he urged the wayward to repent.
“With Apostle, you either love him or you hate him. Either way, it is not going to shift or change what he is doing when it comes to what God would instruct him to do. He would speak. Even if it is unpopular, he is going to speak,” said Dr. Lyston during the morning radio programme.
“I implore you to do the same; stand up for the truth and stand in and for the truth. God is truth. Stand up for righteousness, live holy, walk holy, speak holy. Do everything you can for God, in God,” she urged.
Apostle Lyston attended the United Theological College of the West Indies, was ordained by the World Harvest Church and Living Faith World Ministries, and is a member of the World Harvest Church Ministerial Alliance. He was president of the RWOMI Training Institute and School of the Prophets, which trains Believers in the fivefold ministries. Through the humanitarian arm of RWOMI, he travelled to several countries to offer support that benefitted the poor, established schools and built water sources in countries like Pakistan and India.
Apostle Jeffrey Shuttleworth, the host of Conversations and senior pastor of the Tarrant Baptist Church, said he is confident that the work God has started in and through Apostle Lyston will continue.
“We are saddened by his passing, but we also have to be encouraged that he has fought a good fight, he has kept the faith, and he has transitioned to receive his reward, his crown with many stars,” he said.
