Passover 2024 In Gordon Pen, Spanish Town, Jamaica

Pesach (Passover) 2024 began in Israel after sundown on Monday, April 22. It is an event that is usually highly anticipated in Jamaica by followers of Freedom Come Ministries International (FCMI), which is comprised of Believers drawn from a wide-cross section of denominations.

However, this year’s turnout was smaller than the norm because of a flare-up in violence in the community where FCMI’s Pesach celebration was to be held. The community, Spanish Town, was on high alert due to the killing of a local gang leader, and a curfew was imposed by the police until Monday evening.

The people are praising, and praying, and making declarations unto God.

Knowing the significance of the Passover and how the first was held in a time of great siege of the people of God, the FCMI intercessors were not daunted as they took to the streets in Spanish Town early in the day to pray for the beleaguered city and nation of Jamaica, a country itself currently under intense siege.

Having received spiritual clearance, the people began gathering under “The Big Tent” long before sunset, and though it was not filled to capacity, requiring additional tents to accommodate the overflow (like last year), the time was no less rich in worship and celebration. The evening was marked with high praise and sombre reflection of Jesus, the Passover Lamb, who was slain for the sin of the entire globe.

“The next day he saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!” (John1:29)
