Leviticus 18: 24 – 28 says, “Do not defile yourselves with any of these things; for by all these the nations are defiled, which I am casting out before you. For the land is defiled; therefore, I visit the punishment of its iniquity upon it, and the land vomits out its inhabitants. You shall therefore keep My statutes and My judgments, and shall not commit any of these abominations, either any of your own nation or any stranger who dwells among you (for all these abominations the men of the land have done, who were before you, and thus the land is defiled), lest the land vomit you out also when you defile it, as it vomited out the nations that were before you.”
There are many people who want, and they are talking about peace for their nation; but it is critical for us to recognise that Christ has died to release us from the curse of the law—the dark and unclean things that defile us and the nation.
The environment we have created by partaking in these dark things have caused our children to partake of these dark things, and so we are seeing serious crises. The occult is real, curses are real and the Word of God is real. So, if we want to see a change, then we must move away from the things that defile. In the same way that garbage attracts flies and dead carcasses attract worms/maggots, sin and legal rights of the enemy attract curses. For example, while a person might not go out with a gun to shoot someone, their serving other gods is even more damaging to their lives and to the lives of others.
What Defiles a Nation
The following are things that defile a nation:
People involved in the occult – including fortune-telling, giving and reading horoscope, “reading” crystal balls, tarot cards, tea leaves and so on (Deuteronomy 7: 2 – 5).
Blood money and drugs money and any “unclean” money. Many people find legal channels to inject such money into society by investing in real estate, buying stocks, bonds and such, but doing so does not make it clean and the repercussions will not disappear. Instead, economic growth will be negatively affected and bring with it crime, violence and what we call climate change.
The Sex Trade. There are many fueling the sex trade in many ways. It includes prostitution, paedophilia, human trafficking, and many are using the legal system to circulate the funds from this trade into the society. This is serious.
Gambling. Many are pushing for gambling in our society and are still issuing licenses for different types of gambling, which open the door to destroy the family and finances within the nation. It brings divorce and defilement of the nation.
The shedding of innocent blood and the sacrificing of children and the elderly (Leviticus 20: 2).
Media houses and the Entertainment Industry are defiling our children by teaching them rebellion against the Lord (Jeremiah 28: 16 – 17).
Parents that refuse to discipline their children and grow them in the way of the Lord, while the children become their idols (1 Samuel 2: 27 – 36).
Divorce- The more divorce we have, the more decline we will see in the society. Morals will decline; crime and violence will increase, as well as death and debt (Malachi 2: 16).
Unclean words- Unclean words sent through music, movies, games and every form of entertainment.
Injustice of every kind, including the court system and oppression of the poor, the fatherless and the widow (Isaiah 1: 16 – 17).
Bad treatment of strangers – including illegal aliens by governments, organizations and individuals (Leviticus 19: 33 – 34)
ü
Disobedience to God’s Word will open a flood of curses and defilements in every way (Deuteronomy 28).
God also judges nations when kings do wickedness and turn against Him, 2 Chronicles 28: 19. The ruler of a nation is held responsible for the actions of the people. All rulers, whether kings, queens, presidents, and prime ministers – have the ability to discourage the people from sinning against God and from passing laws that cause the people to sin against God.
Deuteronomy 28: 36 – 37 reminds us, “The Lord will bring you and the king whom you set over you to a nation which neither you nor your fathers have known, and there you shall serve other gods—wood and stone. And you shall become an astonishment, a proverb, and a byword among all nations where the Lord will drive you.”
When one country enters into a bilateral agreement with another country who has established evil altars and serve other gods, then the country will suffer (Leviticus 20: 27).
If we are going to get any meaningful change, regardless of what reformation or transformation takes place in a nation, nothing will change until we begin to understand the seriousness of spiritual laws and what happens when they are broken.
