Patricia Bowen – from Grace Thrillers to the world!

By Cecelia Campbell Livingston

Although her career choice was not singing, Patricia Bowen has been making waves in the world of gospel music with songs such as Heaven Is Better, Every Attack Go Back, and He Made A Way For Me.

As a young woman, her passion for music fiercely competed with the career choice she wanted to make. She saw herself as a nurse or walking the halls of justice as a lawyer, clerk of courts or some other support staff in the system.

Her passion towards music was stronger than she had realised.  Eventually, music won. She caved in to her natural urge and became fully focused on singing. Her career in the sector began with the iconic gospel group The Grace Thrillers.

Now based in Florida, Bowen is known for her worship style of high-energy, contagious singing as well as her distinctive sound and style of  reviving the old rhythmic choruses. This,  she said, was fostered by listening to her mother singing the ‘good old’ hymns when she was a young child.

Bowen said her style is “versatile and original,” and for her, the thrill is in producing songs that everyone can relate to.

Patricia’s first single was released in January 2018 entitled God’s Delay Is Not Denial. After a four year break, she released He Made a Way Oh and Battle with the Lord.

Among her many tracks are Awesome, God a God, My Mama Prayed, and Adonai.

Bowen’s desire is to produce real worship music and for her listeners to experience real praise as the key to their spiritual victory.

.”Worship is a weapon to defeat the enemy; worship empowers and is uplifting,” Bowen said.

She sees Fantasia, Whitney Houston, and Cece Winans as prime examples of excellent vocal artistry and aims to sharpen her skills to this standard. So far, she has shared the stage with top gospel acts such as Papa San, Tasha Cobbs, Donnie McClurkin, Hezekiah Walker,  Jekalyn Carr, among others.

Bowen, a past student of Glengoffe High School, hails from the community of Allman Hill, St. Catherine.

Currently, she is promoting her latest single, Mercy and Repent, and she has other songs ready in the pipeline to be released. Her ultimate goal is to take her music to all four corners of the world.
