The Lord has been alerting us for some time now about the imminent internet blackout. This is set to impact many nations and Jamaica is not exempted. Based on available intelligence that the authorities globally are receiving, the world is now being alerted and people are be told to be prepared for this communication blackout.
The US says it is convinced Russia may now be more likely to carry out potential sabotage operations aimed at disabling a critical piece of the World’s Communication infrastructure. Russia has placed increasing emphasis on building up a dedicated military unit, which deploys a formidable fleet of surface ships, submarines, and naval drones according to one of the officials. These units have been deployed and they are on assignment.
The United States continues to accuse Russia of preparing to cut more undersea cables which carry internet traffic all over the world, and Russia is accusing Western powers of preparing to do the exact same thing. In some cases, these undersea cables literally stretch from one continent to another and so it is impossible to protect them. As a result, these cables are exceedingly vulnerable.
With this information out in the public, it is a warning for societies to prepare. The cables connect global super powers to each other through the internet. They connect economies together as well and so once the internet is destroyed, in terms of connectivity being disrupted, it has a ripple effect.
Already, two undersea internet cables in the Baltic Sea have were suddenly disrupted earlier this week. Also a communications cable between Lithuania and Sweden was cut on Sunday.
Undersea cables are the physical infrastructure that connects the digital world. These cables facilitate about 90 % on internet traffic, as well as telephone calls, data transfers and other telecommunications that enable modern life to function.
The haste to digitise Jamaica is a bad move. Already, it is making the nation more vulnerable. It is a stupid move for the entire economy in Jamaica to become digitised. We should not put all our eggs in one basket. While it is okay to provide digital solutions, it should not be that the whole nation, critical resources and personally sensitive information are all being placed online. The authorities need to step back and re-assess what they are doing. It is not wise. It is not of God, it is part of the beast system, it will make the nation vulnerable, it will land us into a precipitous position if we were to put all out critical processes online.
