Prophet Suddenly: A Movie with Deep Insights

 By Cecelia Campbell Livingston

Prophet Suddenly is a movie that is not just for believers; it is strongly recommended for the unsaved as well.

It provides many explanations and revelations bundled together in this compelling storyline.

The plot is a rich eye-opener, revealing spiritual truths.

Many are called, but few are chosen, and so it is with many of the preachers and so-called prophets parading in the story as children of God.

Various issues are brought to the fore, and we see how a wife can become so engulfed in church life that she literally starves her husband of love and affection, leaving the door wide open for him to give in to his baser instincts.

Produced by Elder (Dr.) Steve Iruedo and directed by Ohis Muyiwa and Anwinli Ojeikere (The Winlos), the screenplay was riveting and offered much food for thought.

The film delves into the life of Michael, a man who strives for success in contemporary ministry. Michael finds himself in a web of desperation as he gives up his goal and adopts his colleague Chuck’s lifestyle. Unknowingly, he engages in a one-night stand with a familiar spirit, which grants him powers to heal and prophesy. Soon, Michael rises to fame as a renowned preacher, earning the nickname “Prophet Suddenly.”

In the end, Michael’s third act of greed backfired on him, as he desired to be powerful and mighty, and when he was told a sacrifice was needed, he didn’t imagine what that sacrifice would entail.

He is caught in a powerful web of deception when he realises that there is a price to be paid for success outside of God. He must also learn that he cannot have God in one hand and the world in the other. It also shows the repercussions of abandoning your purpose and chasing the things of the world.

With its thought-provoking storyline and powerful message, “Prophet Suddenly” leaves a lasting impression on the audience. While the specific lessons and takeaways may vary for each viewer, the film serves as a reminder of the perils of desperation, greed, and covetousness.

The film, which can be viewed on YouTube, premiered a few weeks ago, and it is a good conversation starter for those wanting to discuss issues that can so easily veer a believer from the narrow path.

The message in this film is clear, it only takes one moment of weakness for the main character to spiral downward.
