Reggae gospel singer Tyrone ‘Papa San’ Thompson, in his latest release, Real Talk, is sending a message to the world.
In his introduction to the song on YouTube, he said, “Mi pray ‘bout it and mi a send a message,” before the words came alive.
The potent lyrics sum up the craziness that is happening in the world right now, reminding listeners that time is running out.
“Can’t you see, the whole world a collapse,
Limb by limb and the leaf dem a drop,
Stop, Jesus a come back,
Time a run out, tick tock.
When me see a filthy mouth and feisty,
No jacket and bun without bakery,
Jailhouse and gun with no safety,
When money become the master for slavery.”
The song, released two months ago, earned comments from YouTubers, including listener Inam88, who wrote:
“When the Lord Jesus Christ saved me 14 yrs ago, He brought my way this fine man of God. We never met, but his lyrical preaching without compromise shaped me over these years. The love is deep, the word is always on point! Mighty blessings upon you and your whole family, brother. May the Lord continue to do good to you and keep you faithful till the end, and as you refreshed me, may great waves of refreshment in the Spirit come your way!”
The song is worth a listen and gives lots of food for thought.
Papa San, who has been ordained an apostle, is the senior pastor of Our Father’s Kingdom Ministries International in Lauderhill. He walked away from dancehall at the top of his game in 1997. After facing a series of personal tragedies and legal struggles, he turned away from his secular music career and dedicated his life to Christianity. He was later baptized in 1999 and began releasing Christian reggae and dancehall music.
Among the songs he has released over the years are Step Pon Di Enemy, Get Right, Love About You, Victory, God Is Love, Nobody Like You, and Fill Me Up.
