Sadra sings for the King

Sadra Madonna Lindsay, a Christian for over 25 years, is using her talent for the glory of God.

Confessing that for many years, she was fearful of water baptism as she felt she was not ready and could backslide. She held off until she was in her late teens, then at a random baptismal service that she wasn’t prepared for, she took the plunge.

Lindsay who grew up in church, had a love for music from an early age. It was only natural that she would eventually embrace being a gospel recording artiste.

In 2015 she released her first single followed by four others.

Among her releases are Breathe, It’s Gonna Be OK, Our Father and Thank You.

Lindsay told the Freedom Come Rain newspaper  that all her songs have been significant.

Our Father, which is my most recent release done in summer of 2022 and which is also my first music video, is a commission by God to sing and to pray the Lord’s Prayer over the nation of Jamaica,” she shared.

Her first single, I Love Me, holds a very special place in her heart as she said the Lord spoke to a part of her. Like many Christians, she struggled with accepting who she was.

“The song Breathe (It’s Gonna Be Ok) was released in 2021 and has received amazing traction and was featured in the local press. This song came at a time when it just didn’t seem like anything would work out, especially regarding ministry. But the Lord spoke with words and melody and He said, “I can tell you, you can breathe… It’s gonna be Ok. Just like that, things started to fall right into place,” she recalled.

Married to pastor (Sherwayen Lindsay) and parents to two boys, the couple lead Top Alston Assemblies of the First Born in Clarendon.

Currently, Lindsay hosts a worship series called The Sound of Worship, the first of which was held at the Fellowship Tabernacle in Mandeville. The second was held at the Christian World Outreach on Dunrobin Avenue in Kingston with the third and final in the series held at the New Testament Church of God in Coxswain, Clarendon on Friday July 21.

“My worship and debut album will be launched on November 26, 2023. I look forward to what the Lord will do in this season as I open my heart and my mind to his leading and direction,” she shared on her upcoming project.

Lindsay who formerly recorded as Sadra Madonna Sutherland is also the author of To This Day Let Me Write, an inspired poetic memoir.
