Sanjay and Rusheena Rodney-Pryce – A love worth pursuing

Listening to Sanjay and Rusheena Rodney Pryce’s love story is a fascinating experience, as they shared how the ‘church link up’ happened.

In reminiscing on how they met, Sanjay said he had just finished preaching when he was approached by Rusheena, who knelt down and prayed over his feet!

She again approached him at the end of the service, informing him that the message he delivered was excellent and spoke to her heart.

“I kept seeing her, which peaked my interest because she would usually vanish after each service. I was determined to get her attention. So, during one evening service, the grace was shared, and the congregation was asked to hold each other’s hands. I saw it as an opportunity,” Sanjay related to Freedom Come Rain.

He recalls holding her hand so tight, filled with a desire for her to remember him. Laughing now, he said she did remember, as she later told him that the following day her hand was still tender.

Sanjay said that people who want to know more about their journey from meeting to getting married can watch their YouTube channel, KingdomLifeTv (How We Met), which has all the interesting details.

Now that they are married and enjoying their union, Sanjay said it was not an easy task winning his fair lady, as for him it took some “heavy pursuing and some gives and takes.”

In her defence, Rusheena said she was not looking to date anyone, and she thought Sanjay needed to grow in some areas.

“We both knew this, but Pryce wouldn’t give up until I gave him a chance. He’d always say, ‘I feel like I’m waiting on you,’ which made me feel better about not rushing into a relationship,” she shared.

It all came together for them through a lot of praying, sharing their vision and purpose with each other, and being able to see themselves achieving those goals in the coming years by God’s grace.

RUSHING TO SAY, “I DO” BEFORE CURFEW

On April 11, 2020, in the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, under a nationwide curfew that started at 3 p.m., the two had to hurry with their nuptials to get off the street! What an adventure for them.

“COVID changed the entire framework of our wedding plans, but we were determined to keep the date and plan a fantastic reception when the restrictions lift, but that hasn’t happened yet,” remarked Sanjay.

HURRY TO FORGIVE

The two will be the first to admit that there are days when “teeth and tongue meet” and they are tempted to be at each other’s throats, but they both agree they owe it to God and themselves to resolve their differences quickly.

“We don’t want our prayers to be hampered by being unforgiving and holding a grudge in our hearts. So we try to come together, speak, express ourselves, and get it over with. Two of our keys are to forgive and be patient with one another,” Sanjay stressed.

And that shouldn’t be too hard, as Rusheena, highlighting her husband’s winning qualities, observes, “My husband is fine, full stop! I often refer to him as the Most Excellent Husband. Ha! Ha!” she proclaimed, adding that he is ambitious, has an excellent mind for figuring out technical stuff, but best of all, she loves that although she can be demanding, he sees that she only wants the best for them.

Sanjay sees his dear wife as his destiny partner and loves the fact that he can do life with her on any level. “She is sound, ambitious, loves to ask questions so she can help the vision when there are uncertainties. She is a true helper in all aspects of our union,” he revealed.

With both being civil servants, church leaders, YouTubers, and parents to a beautiful baby girl, they stress the importance of striking the right balance.

TIMETABLE DATES WITH GOD AND EACH OTHER

“As husband and wife, we try to go on a date at least once per month because many times couples do things together but don’t spend time together to foster intimacy. Otherwise, we literally have family meetings where we plan and discuss,” he informed.

Pointing out that it is so easy to become very busy with all God has blessed them with and forget to spend time in His presence, Sanjay shares that spending time in the Word and prayer help to keep them grounded and balanced.

The couple knows how much work it takes to keep a marriage together, so they took the chance to encourage others by saying that submitting to each other and the ministry of the Bible and the Holy Spirit is the key to a long-lasting union.

“This way, no one has room to be self-centered or advance their own agenda. When decisions need to be made or problems, conflicts, or disagreements arise, the Holy Spirit and the Word will hold us accountable or correct us.”

And as they look forward to more years of wedded bliss, Sanjay said they are planning to travel the world together for pleasure and ministry and to construct and establish a multipurpose, state-of-the art facility to host and advance Kingdom purposes.
