Gospel singer Stacy ‘Elevated’ Wilson takes joy and pride in her career, but the best part about it is that she can directly minister to listeners about the love of God.
Wilson, who first gave her life to the Lord at age 11, did it out of fear when her uncle died. She was afraid of going to hell, so she got baptised.
She admitted, however, that she did not fully understand what it meant to be saved and live the Christian life, so she ‘dropped out’, as she puts it.
She later renewed her commitment to God with a heart ready to serve and carry out his will.
Reflecting, she shared with Freedom Come Rain, “When I look at how He has given me the opportunity for a better life, I remember promising Him during the process that if He brings me to the United States, I will serve Him for the rest of my life.” She said all that has happened as she is now living in Florida.
Wilson, who hails from Crescent District, Spanish Town, St Catherine, started singing at age 11. She would sing in the church choir, at community events and anywhere she was called upon to perform.
She didn’t fully embrace the call to write and record her songs until a few years ago, after migrating to the United States. Prior to this, she doubted herself and her talent.
“At one point I got discouraged; I started to listen to other people’s criticism and started doubting myself. I doubted it (getting ahead) could ever happen for me professionally. The discouragement had gotten to me because the ones that are talking are the ones I trusted and thought believed in me,” she revealed.
Sharing that it hit her that she would never make it professionally, she started to believe that reality. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she said the Lord started revealing songs to her.

On one particular day she remembered, after going through those discouraging moments, still feeling down, she started praying to the Lord and asking, “Who is going to help me? Lord, I need your help, please. I am giving up, and that’s when the Lord gave me my first single, “You Chose Me”, and so it hit me to where God started blowing my mind. He has given me five other songs since,” she revealed, noting that among the songs are ‘Jehovah’, ‘I Am Blessed’ and Back Against the Wall featuring her nephew Prince Saj.
Inspiration for Stacy comes from the Holy Spirit, and she noted that she depends on God in everything that she’s doing. She affirmed that she is led to write songs to encourage others that are hurting and those that are discouraged. She reminds them of the promises of God; that they are indeed true.
With the support of her husband, her mother and her manager, Suzette Farquharson, she said she continues the ministry.
The Lord has been leading Stacy on an incredible journey through the music industry, which has seen her copping one award after another.
Within the last four years, she has been nominated for Best New Artiste in 2023 for the Tampa Bay Gospel Music Award and Multicultural Artiste of the Year in 2024 for her songs You Chose Me and Jehovah.
This year she has been nominated for the Multi-Cultural Award again for the Florida Gospel Music Award and also for the Gospel Choice Music Award for Religious Songwriter of the Year, Gospel Reggae Artiste of the Year and Christian Contemporary Songwriter of the Year.
In closing, Stacy just wants to encourage others – be they artistes or just someone who needs a timely word – that God’s promises are real and true, and they should always trust and have faith in what God will bring.
