The PASTOR’S VOICE: Six things that advance us

NBC News

We are in a time where there is significant breakdown of moral values which hinders the achievement of prosperity on many levels.

Here are a few things in life that will advance us individually and as a people.

Respect

Respect is the key to advancement.  We are in a society where people pass out plates of disrespect like a free barbecue.  However, respect will carry you far and wide.  Matthew 7: 12 says “Therefore, whatever you want men to do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.”

Respect means we value others just as much as we value ourselves or even more.  We must respect everyone including family, Believers, and leaders at all levels. (1 Peter 2: 17).  We must never allow status or money to cause us to disrespect others.

Honour

Honor is what promotes and advances us.  Everyone in the Bible who showed honour was promoted by God.  The Bible says in 1 Timothy 5: 17, “Let the elders who rule well be counted worthy of double honor, especially those who labor in the word and doctrine.”

As we look in the churches there are pastors that serve well who have fed the people; and most of them have been treated less than honourably.  While you may be going through a challenge or difficulty, the anointing on an honourable person’s life can bring change in your life.

The 10 Commandments can be separated into two (2) categories: Five (5) deal with honouring man and five (5) of them 5 deal with honouring God.  Honour brings access and also where there is honour there will always be money and favour.  A boss will quickly promote someone who honours.

Honour will bring long life – Honour your father, mother, pastor and elders.  That will advance you, and to that there is no limit.

Obedience

Deuteronomy 28: 1 – 14 is a reminder.  There is a great blessing that follows obedience.  Obedience is a daily instruction and there is always great blessing when you obey God, leaders, and parents.  Many globally, nations and individuals, are suffering as a result of disobedience.

What would have happened if Abraham did not obey God regarding Isaac? Then he would not have found the ram in the bush – the provision of God.  Every blessing is the result of an act of obedience.  God speaks to us daily, and many ignore.  The Struggles that many are going through is the result of disobedience.

Are we tithing?  Are we listening to and obeying our leaders? Will you attend the place of worship God has instructed you about?  Will you sit under the mentor that GOD has chosen for you?

Even as it concerns the place – you must recognize that when GOD is going to bless you, He will either do it through a person or a place.  What if Abraham went to the wrong place – the wrong mountain?  Would he have seen the ram in the bush (Genesis 22)?  The wrong place with the wrong persons will facilitate the wrong things happening.  It is critical to be at the right place because that brings the right people and the right result.  It brings protection, provision, prosperity, and promotion.  Deuteronomy 12: 5 reminds us, “But you shall seek the place where the Lord your God chooses, out of all your tribes, to put His name for His dwelling place; and there you shall go.”  It means your very acts of tithing and giving offerings will bring fruits and good results.

Humility

Humility is the key to prosperity.  Pride brings a fall, failure, and Proverbs 22: 4 reminds us, “By humility and the fear of the Lord, are riches and honor and life.”  The humbler the individual the greater the blessings.  Pride is destroying the globe.

1 Peter 5: 5 says, likewise you younger people, submit yourselves to your elders. Yes, all of you be submissive to one another, and be clothed with humility, for “God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.”  Humility will bring you further than a first degree can bring you.

Love

Love God and love people. Love the poor, the fatherless, and the voiceless.  Love is an action word.  Love is truth.  Many say they love God, but they refuse to serve Him.  John 3: 16 says, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”  Many say they love GOD, but they are still living a life of sin.

Also, 1 Corinthians 13: 4 – 7 reminds us, “Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.”

Forgiveness

Forgiveness is one of the biggest keys for a joy-filled life and it is vital to our health and well-being. There are many who are unable to get certain breakthroughs – including healing and deliverance – simply because they refuse to forgive.  We all need to recognize that we must let go of the past, regardless of how painful it may be, if we are to have a good future.  We must forgive ourselves for the mistakes we have made and turn our mistakes into message and maybe millions.  Forgiveness brings promotion, peace of mind, great joy and prosperity.  It is our sins that nailed Jesus to the cross, yet He forgave us.
