Trump trade war worrying

The Trump administration had imposed tariffs on goods from Mexico, Canada, and China on Tuesday morning. The imposition of these tariffs is expected to increase the prices of goods used by Americans every day. From gas to alcohol to meat and more, economists have predicted that Americans will have to pay higher prices.

Trump has imposed 25% taxes or tariffs on Mexican and Canadian imports, although he limited the levy to 10% on Canadian energy. He also doubled the tariff he implemented last month on Chinese products to 20%.

Beijing retaliated with tariffs of up to 15% on a wide array of U.S. farm exports. It also expanded the number of U.S. companies subject to export controls and other restrictions. Trump said he is putting the tariffs in place, in part, to pressure these countries into stopping undocumented immigrants and fentanyl from enteringthe U.S. via their borders. The tit-for-tat trade war with Mexico, Canada and China is bound to hurt U.S. businesses and consumers, even Christians.

But founder and president of the Jamaica House of Prayer (JAHOP) Pastor Harry Walcott said Biblical prophecies will be fulfilled. He reiterated that the prayer of the saints should be for God’s will to be done.

“Jesus said there is a time coming when we are going to have to flee to the mountains, and he didn’t say you must pray that you will not have to flee; he said this is going to happen. What he said was that you should pray that your flight will not be in the winter or on the Sabbath. So your prayers can determine when it happens, but it will not stop it from happening,” the pastor noted.
