Hi, Youth S.O.U.L.diers!
Have you ever asked yourself, “Who am I? And what was I created for?”
Whether we’re newly saved or saved from birth, no matter how much God reveals to us, He never really reveals our entire purpose to us. Even if He tells us a part of it or what He desires to do through us and in our lives, it’s unlikely that He’ll ever tell us the exact steps of how we will get there.
One of the reasons God does this is because it leaves us no choice but to constantly rely on Him throughout our lives, which, though it keeps us safe and helps us make the best choices, we can all agree is not easy. What we can be completely sure of, though, when it comes to who we are and our purpose, is that God created us to worship Him and to fellowship with Him.
So, when you think about fellowshipping with God, what comes to mind? For us, it’s relationship—walking with God, communing with Him, and being obedient to Him. We know from getting to know Him that He truly desires for us to be close to Him and to seek Him.
DO YOU EVER WONDER WHY GOD SAID, ‘LET US’?
Does this mean that there are three Gods? No. God is one God who manifests Himself in three Persons, but we’ll guide you through that another time. Our point here is that God, in Himself, exists in a community. He is a relational and personal God, and He made each of us to have an individual relationship with Him.
God’s longing to be in relationship with us is evident in the Scriptures. Remember when Adam and Enoch walked with God? And when Moses encountered God in a burning bush? Elijah, Abraham, Jacob, and the three Hebrew boys also interacted with God on Earth—God, the “I AM” showed up and made Himself known to them. Through these stories, God shows us that He desires to be with human beings.
God desires to establish a relationship with us because he knows that without Him, we really cannot function normally. John 15:5 says, “I am the Vine; you are the branches. If you remain in Me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from Me you can do nothing.” Existing apart from God is not in our nature, so when we are not in relationship with Him, our hearts feel empty and anxious. We are walking around as brittle, feeble, dead branches, disconnected from the Vine.
What happens when we reconnect to Jesus and abide in Him and His love? We are fulfilled by Him. As the Scripture says, “In Him we live and move and have our being.”
CHOOSING A CAREER PATH AT AGE 16 CAN BE SCARY
We know that God also longs to be with us because He chose to love us first!
There are countless scriptures about God wanting a relationship with us. One is Ephesians 1:4, and another is Jeremiah 1:5. These two verses go so well together and are helpful because sometimes in life we feel purposeless, especially when things don’t exactly go our way.
One of the scariest things for us as youth is that when we’re about sixteen years old, we’re pretty much told to choose our lifelong career or field of study. You’ll find that because many of us are not being led by the Holy Spirit through this process, a lot of us are choosing careers that we think will make money or that our parents are encouraging us to do.
However, when you have a relationship with God who is all-knowing, you can connect with Him, through Jesus, and seek His guidance. He will help you!
If you’re struggling with subject or career choices or anything related, know that it’s all in God’s hands, and that if you ask Him, He’ll speak to you and tell you exactly where He wants you to go.
He may not tell you how you’ll get there, or the scholarships you’re going to get, or which schools you may have to apply for, or the delays that might come, but He will help you. God has a good, beautiful, and perfect plan for your life.
For those of you who are discouraged, it doesn’t matter what your past is like or how many times you’ve fallen and messed up; God still has a good, beautiful, and perfect plan for your life.
Let’s reconnect to God and get to experience why we’re really here.
That said, Youth S.O.U.L.diers! Arise!
