Abiding in the Vine – Former co-workers officially launch intercessory prayer group

What started as a meeting of three Christians using their lunch breaks to pray has culminated in the soft launch of a workplace intercessory team that now prays for a wide cross-section of people experiencing spiritual warfare.

The three intercessors, Minister Dr. Natasha Grant, Jodi-Ann James, and Shauna Falconer, officially launched the intercessory group, Abiding in the Vine, on April 28 at the Charis Cafe in Kingston. The three first started meeting in 2021, during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, to pray, following a prophecy Dr. Grant received from Apostle Jeffrey Shuttleworth. Over the years, they have found in each other the spiritual support necessary to fight some of life’s most challenging battles.

At the time the trio met, they all worked for the same company, but James and Falconer worked at a separate location from Dr. Grant. Every day, they would find a way to meet at midday to pray in each other’s cars and, eventually, at other hours of the day, such as at midnight. Occasionally, other intercessors are invited.

“It was like a force to [be] reckon[ed] with. A three-strand cord, said the Lord, is not easily broken,” said Dr. Grant, who has since left the company where they first met.

“By doing that, even our individual prayer life would have catapulted to a different realm and dimension,” she said.

As an end-time intercessory ministry, ‘Abiding in the Vine’ intends to fulfil the great commission by feeding the poor, teaching the Word of God, and praying without ceasing. It is envisioned that the three intercessors will bring hope and love to those they interact with.

The group started as ‘Grace Anointing’ as Faulconer, an ordained missionary, had gotten the sponsorship of food packages from a locally headquartered conglomerate, Grace Kennedy Company Ltd., to distribute through a feeding programme they started. However, one of the challenges in undertaking the mandate of travelling across Jamaica to feed the poor was that they needed a sturdier vehicle to handle the rough terrain. Through what she describes as a “miracle,” Dr. Grant was able to acquire a seven-seater SUV, which now makes this a possibility.

As the intercessory team became known to others, the three started receiving external prayer requests. The issues vary, but the trio has maintained the commitment they made to intercede for others. They also encourage other believers to stand in the gap for their family and co-workers.

“Other believers are going to start and form prayer groups in their workplaces as well,” Dr. Grant prophesied, while stating that these teams will need to be intentional and well-coordinated.

A graduate of the Restoration World Outreach Ministries Incorporated (RWOMI) School of the Prophet, Dr. Grant was ordained as a minister under that ministry.  Falconer is now a student at RWOMI, while Jodi-Ann is pursuing studies in counselling elsewhere.

Dr. Grant said they were initially planning to have lunch at Charis Cafe, a Christian eatery in Kingston, but the Holy Spirit told them to make it into a soft launch, and they obeyed. Those wanting the group to pray for them can send an email to [email protected].
