Cash App founder killed

The founder of Cash App and chief product officer of cryptocurrency company MobileCoin, Bob Lee, was killed during an apparent stabbing attack in San Francisco early Tuesday morning.

According to a report from the San Francisco Police Department, officers had responded to the report of a stabbing in the Rincon area of San Francisco, where a 43-year-old man was found with what appeared to be stab wounds.

“Officers rendered aid and summoned medics to the scene. The victim was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. Despite efforts by first responders and medical personnel, the victim succumbed to his injuries,” the police said in a statement.

Lee joined MobileCoin, a cryptocurrency and digital payments startup, in 2021 as its chief product officer. Lee also helped the World Health Organisation with its mobile app after the COVID-19 pandemic took hold, and according to his LinkedIn profile, he was an investor in Elon Musk’s SpaceX venture as well as other tech firms.

Several industry stakeholders have taken to Twitter to post messages eulogising the former tech executive.
