Letter to the editor: Emancipate ourselves from spiritual slavery

Dear Editor,

While it’s true that we were physically freed as a people from slavery in 1834, how many of us can honestly declare that we are also free from Satan’s devices?

Many people are experiencing spiritual oppression and possession in their lives, such as sleep paralysis, sexual perversion, violent thoughts, worry, and diseases, to name a few. King David described us as being afflicted with pain and the gloom of death as a result of our rebellion against God’s words in Psalm 107. Despite this knowledge, many of us remain under Satan’s dominion, unable to apply the word of faith, healing, deliverance, and provision over our lives. In John 10:10-29, the Bible identifies the perpetrator as the devil, who came to steal, kill, and destroy, whereas God came to give us life and more abundant life. As a result, we must nourish our souls with God’s word in order to be delivered from Satan’s grasp as he seeks to keep us in spiritual servitude and oppression. He (God) gave us all the abilities and knowledge we need to confront the enemy on a daily basis, according to Luke 10:19.

The devil’s goal is to gather as many souls as possible to spend eternity in hell with him. I encourage us all to take up the whole armour of God so that we are not outwitted by Satan, for we are well aware of his plans.

My prayer is that the Holy Spirit will prompt us to fast during the month of August while we read the book of Psalms. We can pull down the strongholds of untimely death, disease, sleep paralysis, suicide, and more in Jesus’ name. Now is the time for the Lord to set us free from our spiritual slavery. Amen.

 I am,

Maaya Rodriques
