In the absence of truth speaking or freedom of speech, democracy as we know it would die. And what would actually emerge is an autocratic, totalitarian government. Because of the influence of the beast system, large parts of the world are moving in that direction, where free speech is being restricted through different forms of laws and different forms of legislation. Prophetically, we would have seen it coming, and in different ways we have been sensitising the masses that if ever there is one item on the agenda of prayer that should be given proper and sustained attention, it is freedom of speech. Remember we are in the decade of the speech.
Increasingly, the intention of the beast is to control speech, to control the narrative, to determine what is said, how it is said, and when it is said, and to determine truth and what truth is. Please note how many words and concepts are being redefined. That’s the agenda of the beast: to change communication, to change the narrative, and to move the narrative away from truth to another form of truth.
There is only one truth, and that truth is God. We cannot know truth unless we know God in Christ. Truth comes from God, as outlined in His Word.
God is the one who created words. The first word is Jesus, the Christ, Son of the Living God, and the Bible tells us clearly, in the beginning was the Word. Traditional media houses have been warned. Especially where there are born-again believers in Christ working in these entities, they should abide by righteous principles.
They need to ensure that they honour God in the execution of their daily functions, and once they do that, God will take care of them. Media practitioners should honour God, because the time is coming when many of these traditional media houses will go under. They will become irrelevant.
That’s exactly what’s now happening, and to a certain extent, we blame those persons who call themselves Christians, who work and operate in these entities. We have to remember that the Word of God is true. Unless the Lord builds the house, they who labour, build in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the watchmen watch it, but in vain. What we have seen with many of the traditional media houses is that they have moved away from truth.
They have literally facilitated, in different ways, the proliferation of ungodly ideologies. We look, for example, at one of the papers this morning, and indirectly, they are encouraging schools and children to practise yoga. The slant the media takes on issues is crucial. They should be objective in their analysis and hold the powers that be accountable through investigative journalism.
What do you think God is going to do and would do in such situations where attempts repeatedly have been made to silence or to prevent the Christian voice from coming to the fore? And also preventing born-again believers who are rightly aligned from occupying positions of influence and authority? If you marginalise such persons, you are literally marginalising the very presence of God. And if you are marginalising the manifest presence of God, then of course such entities will become overrun or swamped by darkness. Once an entity becomes swamped by darkness, it is only a matter of time before that entity will go under. That entity will struggle, and we are seeing a number of the media houses struggling now. When you have the leadership of media reaching out to the government for assistance, what that will do is to give the government influence over journalists.
We know that the media in Jamaica, traditional media, are right now between a rock and a hard place. But this is a clarion call for the media to turn back to God so that God can become your source. And when God is your source, it does not matter how difficult things and times become; He will still come through for you because He is God.
