Body of Jamaican who jumped from “Jaws Bridge” found

Wreath are placed at the “Jaws Bridge” in Martha’s Vineyard for brothers Tavaughn and Tavaris who drowned after jumping off the bridge.

The family of 21-year-old Tavaughn Bulgin is relieved after his body was retrieved before midday in Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts, four days after his disappearance.

Tavaughn and his older brother, 26-year-old Tavaris drowned after jumping off the infamous “Jaws Bridge” in Martha’s Vineyard Sunday evening. They are both from Clarendon and were very active at the Palmers Cross New Testament Church which is pastored by their father Reverend Keith Bulgin. The younger brother’s body was found Monday morning.

Reverend Bulgin, his wife Jacqueline, their two daughters and representative from their church community are currently in Massachusetts. They attended a memorial at the jump site that was organized by co-workers of the brothers, both seasonal workers at a restaurant in Martha’s Vineyard.

Spokesperson for the family, Bishop Rhoan Parkins said the family left for the US Tuesday evening hoping that Tavaughn would be found.

“That was their main mission and it was becoming a challenge as the days go by,” he said.

Tavaughn was found at about 11: 30 a.m. by a fisherman.

He said the focus will now be on getting both bodies returned to Jamaica.

Several prayer vigils have been held for the Bulgin family since the boys’ fatal jump.
