Why gamble with the Devil?

You are not too young to die. You are not reading this article by coincidence. God is intentionally drawing you to Himself. He wants to meet you once more through the words in this article. He is saying to you, “Receive me as The Prince of Life today!”

You might be thinking, “’The Prince of Life?’ I’ve never heard that name before!” It’s another title given to Jesus Christ (Acts 3:15). Let’s explore this dynamic and significant title for the Son of God.

Jesus is The Prince since He has dominion over all natural and spiritual things (Col 1:16, Eph 1:21). He was sent to earth on a mission, which is summed up in John 3:16; one of the most popular Bible verses of all times. Like me, you probably mindlessly recited it at church or school devotions. However, this beloved scripture helps us understand why Jesus is The Prince of Life.

God is King over all; therefore, His son must be a prince, right? So, the aforementioned verse could be expressed as: “The King loves us and does not want us to die/perish in sin so much so that He sent The Prince so we could be preserved unto Eternal Life.” By now, it should occur to most that physical death is inevitable.

TWO TYPES OF DEATH

However, there is another death that is mostly inconspicuous and therefore more threatening as it operates in the midst of natural life. This is spiritual death, as it produces works done apart from God. If anyone experiences physical death while in this state, then they will also experience the second death (eternal torment and separation from God). Note that it would not be due to a lack of love on God’s part, but due to one’s refusal to accept Jesus and the life He offers and turn away from sin.

Being sinful is more than a condition of the soul. Sin is a spirit/entity that lives in everyone who has not received Jesus Christ. “…according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience (Eph 2:2). Therefore, they are governed by the one who opposes life—Satan, the prince of darkness and death. He rules their minds with lies and fears, driving them to sin.

Many chase after riches, fame, a career, or relationship believing the lie that these things are key to a fulfilling life. Consumed by “the pursuit of happiness,” they become blind to their mortality and idolatry. They are experiencing death and destruction in installments at the hands of Satan.

JESUS IS OFFERING THE BEST LIFE NOW!

There is no real fulfillment in life separate from the will of God, which is that you be rescued from spiritual death first and foremost. The details of your life thereafter are also already written according to His plans. (Eph 2:10)

The Prince of Life is both the Author and Source of physical life and, more importantly, eternal life. Eternal life, however, is not limited to living in eternity. It is to know God through Jesus Christ Himself. (John 17:3)

It is the very life of God that must be experienced in time if we are to experience it in eternity. This type of existence is so other-worldly and phenomenal that you must be “born again” to receive it!

When your heart comes to the place where you see that your (natural) life is sinful, pointless, and destructive, you will cry out to God wholeheartedly. In response, the Prince of Life comes with power and passion, kicks sin completely out of you, and fills you with His Eternal Spirit/Life.

With the Prince of Life living inside you, you can think, feel, and do as He does, which is what truly pleases God. This is possible because He lived sinless, gave up His life to pay the penalty for our sins, and overcame death by His resurrection. He made the only way for mankind to be rescued from spiritual death and be brought into His abundant life. (John 10:10, John 6:14)

His abundant life offers:

  • unbroken fellowship with God
  •  no fear of death/darkness of any kind
  • endless supply of righteousness, peace, and joy beyond our circumstances
  • freedom from sin and power to resist temptations
  • the promise of a glorious, immortal body at the rapture

If Jesus is already in you, are you allowing Him to make you a witness of His abundant life? This is crucial if you desire to receive the hope of eternity with Him.

If you don’t have Him, the invitation stands while you have breath, but don’t delay. Today might be your last. Don’t you want the ever-winning life that is captained by Christ?
