Despite an onslaught of threats and physical attacks, Christian advocacy group, Love March Movement (LMM), continues its fight against abortion, by way of the 40 Days for Life Prayer Vigil along Ivy Green Crescent, Crossroads.
The prayer vigil, which is an extension of an international movement impacting over 1000 cities in 63 countries, is aimed at ending abortion through 40 days of prayer, fasting, and community outreach in front of abortion centers.
LMM President, Dr. Daniel Thomas, spoke to Freedom Come Rain, detailing a recent attack involving some local residents, who insisted that they leave the area.
“There was one particular incident Tuesday, where a particular lady decided she was going to cause as much trouble as she could, by throwing water at us, juice at us, she took stones out of a pothole on the road and threw them at me. Two handfuls of gravel, and also came at us with broomstick, stole our signs and went into the Ivy Green Medical Center facility and threw down rocks at us. Some of them also threw glass bottles and another lady there also threw a rock and there were some other missiles that I don’t know where they came from.”
He also stated that the aggressor returned the following day, and continued to attack the group by throwing glass bottles. During the attack, a team member received a small cut. The woman was arrested by law enforcement, after a report was filed by the group.
This attack against the group is not the first of its kind, as according to Dr. Thomas, there have been other instances of opposition since the start of the vigil on February 18, 2026.
“Over the first week, we had almost 50 bottles thrown at us,” he said, “We’ve had stones thrown at us. We’ve had water thrown at us. There are buckets of water and hoses as well. And our signs have been stolen.”
He believes that the attacks are a result of an engraved belief in abortion practices which has flourished in the Jamaican culture.
“It’s very difficult out there sharing this information because what has happened is that abortion has become engraved in our culture even though we don’t talk about it,” he explained. “It has flourished in many sectors of our society. So to even say that we should preserve the unborn child even when they are unwanted by the parents [due to] significant stress or pressure in many sectors, is not going to be tolerated as a sentiment that you should express.”
Despite the attacks, the president says that there has been some positive reception from women who were contemplating abortion. Since this year’s campaign, three women have decided against aborting their children. This brings a total number of children saved from abortion since the group began the campaign 3 years ago to 33.
He also stated that the group continues to offer help to the women after they choose life.

“We’re not just saying ‘Change your mind and God be with you,’ but we have a project called Friends for Life that will come alongside the women and will offer practical love, care, support – anything that they need.” he emphasized, adding that the organization has aided women in acquiring groceries, free ultrasounds, doctors visits, medication. The group has also helped mothers in acquiring jobs, offered short-term housing and rescued them out of violent situations.
“We’re committed to that kind of practical support.” Dr. Thomas declared, “That is love in action, that’s the gospel in action. And we’re just standing and praying because we know that this is a spiritual war, and so we’re contending with demonic forces that have operated in this locale in Crossroads for 50 years, and so we continue to stand.”
He also expressed the group’s determination to contend for the life of the unborn, conceding that this year is more intense than previous ones. There are definitely persons who are committed to intimidation. We remain convinced of the call of the Lord, even more convinced than previous years. The Lord is with us; we will see victory in Jesus’ name. Crossroads belongs to Jesus Christ!
