Letter to the Editor: Dictates from WHO and whosoever with NIDS

 The Editor,

As a layperson with grave concerns as to the destiny of Jamaica, I want to register my distress at this road of national identification that we are about to embark on.

My main question is: Has Jamaica been sold to the highest bidder?

Why are we planning the devastation of people’s lives by seeking to introduce such a forceful measure which will eventually coerce the population to comply?

We hear the subtlety in the bill that suggests that it will not be mandatory, yet it will replace the TRN and later be demanded by all business interests. The Government must be aware that the World Health Organisation said at the end of the COVID-19 pandemic that, in the future, they want the ability to determine what actions each nation must take in a so-called pandemic or global crisis.

With the NIDS as an identification which will have international viability, there will be no limit to how the WHO and the whosoever can dictate what should be done or not done in a country with its citizenry.

Stop now! Let us rethink this invasive form of identification. Jamaica needs to be governed by leaders who have the people’s interests at heart. Stop this indecent haste and allow the mandates of the NIDS to be re-engineered so it will not become a tool of division and hate.

I am,

Georgia Campbell
