Jamerican Gospel Show Launches Family Matters

The Jamerican Gospel Show is a vision created by US-based Danville Howell. Born in Manchester, Jamaica, Danville gave his life to the LORD 30 years ago at Salem United Brethren Church in New Green, Mandeville.

Danville started the Jamerican Gospel show 13 years ago in his recording studio in Ohio, USA, where he writes and produces his own music. He’s done songs like “Yuh Memba God,” “Soldier,” “Trust the Lord,” and “Reason to Celebrate.”

“When I migrated from Jamaica, I decided to put my energy into what I really loved: music and evangelism. I saw this as a way to also connect with my roots and keep that bond going,” he explained. “So the Jamerican Gospel Show was born to spread the gospel and draw people to Christ through gospel music, talk shows, interviews, etcetera. We’ve  interviewed not only Jamaicans (Minister Lubert Levy, Danny Demetrius aka Bredda Danny, Papa San, and Minister Renae Renae), and Americans like Ted Robinson; but also Brazilians like Thiago Lira, Dennis Requena aka Danny Gee from Belize, the Samuels Trio from India, and other artistes from the Caribbean, Latin America, Pakistan, Asia, North America, and Africa.

The show provides the opportunity for professional and established, as well as upcoming independent artistes, to share their music and Christian experience with listeners. “I saw the need to help new artistes to break into the industry,” the veteran broadcaster stated, “to give them an opportunity to be heard and to be mentored by the older ones in the business. So, on the programme, we facilitate discussions on songwriting, production, distribution, artiste management, and other areas relating to the music community.”

Despite the show’s strong focus on gospel music, Danville has been making significant efforts to promote a more holistic experience through discussions addressing marriage, the family, and culture, as he views these two areas as being integral to the stability of society. “We are varying too much and veering too far from our Christian roots,” commented the family man, married to his bona fide friend, Angella, for 16 years, with whom he has two children: Aviana and Bronson Howell. “We need to get back to base.”

Having observed the threats to the family, on December 21, 2023, at 8:30 p.m., the Jamaica Gospel Show will launch its newest programme, entitled Family Talk. Created to help bring families back together, Family Talk will focus on building Godly marriages and relationships.

The inaugural panel will comprise Dr. Ruthlyn McLarty, Bishop Dr. Paul H. Bogle, Pastors Seon Rodney, and Barrington Morris—all experts who will explore various issues affecting the family as a unit and address ways in which each individual in a family impacts the unit.

Rev. Stacy-Ann Garvey and Pastor Latara Mulgrave-Hylton will also provide valuable information on some growing concerns facing families: mental health, counselling, working through trauma, abuse, and other life struggles.

Family Talk will stream live through Facebook and YouTube and can be found by searching for “Jamerican Gospel Show” or “Danville Howell.”

Winner of the Sterling Gospel Award for Best Online Radio Show in 2021, the Jamerican Gospel Show continues to do well.
