Time for salvation: Newlands residents admonished to accept Jesus

There were shouts of “Hallelujah” and “a salvation time now” as the Tarrant Baptist Church (TBC) and the Freedom Come Ministry team traversed Newlands Road Friday evening for a “Community Invasion”.

Newlands Road was renamed Salvation Boulevard, and as vehicles passed along the stretch, the team declared that the area was being taken for Jesus Christ. The initiative was supported by many who came from different sections of the community to hear the Word. Members of the team went into bars, gambling shops and other businesses to speak to patrons.

Director of Freedom Come Ministries, Apostle Jeffrey Shuttleworth, said notice was being served on every practitioner of unrighteousness along the busy corridor.

“A salvation time now, put down the gun, take up the Bible. A salvation time now, put down the weed, take up your Bible. A salvation time now, put down the rum, take up your Bible. A Salvation Time now, put down the bad-word cussing, take up righteousness. A salvation time now, put down the lying and stealing, take up righteousness,” he told those who would listen.

Persons were urged to start serving God before it is too late. Pastor Lionel Lewin appealed to the young people in particular when he called upon them to turn to God to experience true liberty.

“Can I tell some young people in Newland that the Molly might get you high, but the blood of Jesus will keep you higher; the go-go club might take away your stress, but only the blood of Jesus can wash it away. You are invited to Jesus tonight,” he said.

All were invited to accept Jesus’s invitation to lay down their heavy burden. He described sin as one of those heaven burdens.

“When you are walking in sin, you are like a vehicle without insurance coverage. We are calling you to a comprehensive coverage in Jesus Christ,” he said.

All had a good time in Christ as they sang, danced and evangelized. After ministering to those on the streets, the team went back to the tent that has been erected in Newlands for communion.
