We Want Justice for Jubilee!

Last week, news broke that 24 newborn babies died in less than a month in the largest maternity hospital in the English-speaking Caribbean, the Victoria Jubilee.

Jubilee is the place where the majority of babies born to working-class women in the corporate area take their first breath. Based on the 138 years of obstetrics expertise that hospital has honed, it is not expected to be the place where newborns breathe their last.

The hospital was built by prominent Jamaicans in 1887 in honour of Queen Victoria, who celebrated her Jubilee Anniversary that year.

Jubilee is said to be expertly resourced to deliver babies in the most complex of cases. However, the hospital has had a chequered history of infection outbreaks and disappearing newborns. Quite a lot of effort over the years has been made to assure mothers that ‘Lying-In’, as Jubilee is commonly called, is the best place to give birth.

So, as health authorities nervously huddled in a critical meeting to cauterise the media frenzy surrounding the death of the 24 newborns at the facility, crucial questions were being asked, but none have been answered.

Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dr Jacquiline Bisasor McKenzie shamelessly acknowledged that there has been a massive increase in the number of newborn deaths at Jubilee but hastened to point out that this is not linked to an outbreak of infection.

The CMO blamed the dead babies’ fragility for their demise. Of the babies who died, 55% were said to be premature, and 60% had low birth weight. However, the Opposition spokesman on health, Dr Alfred Dawes, suggested that the deaths point to undeniable evidence that the century-old system failed to properly care for the newborns.

The death of any child, especially a newborn, is devastating to parents and families.  Reliable data suggests that, on average, fourteen or fifteen families in Jamaica are plunged into mourning each month as their newborn babies die within the first 28 days of life. But by mid-June alone, the neonatal mortality rate at Jubilee saw a whopping 50 percent spike over the national average.

Twenty-four newborn babies dead in less than twenty-one days in one hospital is serious business. The politicians may use propaganda to gloss over this frightful development, but every Jamaican knows that the ramshackle health system has just failed 24 more families.

The first month of life is the most vulnerable period outside the womb for the newborn. Poverty, medical error, lack of resources such as incubators and ventilators, and recklessness place many newborn babies at risk. But 24 babies in just over two weeks is massively high and excruciatingly heartbreaking.

In any single year, over two million families have to deal with the death of newborn babies globally. Data suggests that the majority of these deaths happen in poor and developing nations where resources are sparse and good health care is beyond the reach of large segments of the population.

Even so, it is curious that a few years after the COVID -19 vaccine debacle, in an election year, in the month that the LGBTQI-minus reprobates claim to be theirs, that out of nowhere, more babies are being born too frail to live.

Studies have emerged to give credence to the popular theory that the COVID vaccines have impacted the potential of pregnancies and the health of newborn babies globally.

One such study published by the National Library of Medicine, conducted by an august body of physicians, focused on pregnancy and menstruation, using data collected by the Vaccine Adverse Events Reporting System (VAERS) database from January 1998 to June 2022. The researchers concluded that the levels of excess harm to pregnant women and newborn babies necessitated a worldwide moratorium on the use of COVID-19 vaccines in pregnancy.

The reasons for the death of the babies at Victoria Jubilee are still being investigated, but there is no question that the lives of young children, women, and men are being snuffed out with robotic regularity, and Jamaica’s population size has significantly shrunk and continues to shrink.

We seem to be locked in a cycle of population elimination. For decades, the lives of grown men and women, children, and now newborn babies have been snuffed out under questionable circumstances. Today, the state is assisting in the elimination process with the killing of young men in controversial police raids.

While the government is doing its victory dance about the reduction in murders by criminals, their morose gyrations make a mockery of the fact that the bloodletting by agents of the state makes up for the deficit left by murderers.

Anyone who sheds innocent blood is cursed, regardless of their professional, political or spiritual status. God’s right hand will not spare sinners, and His sword will not cease over those who shed innocent blood.

While the blood of the innocent cries out for justice and the sword of God is poised for ultimate judgement, the majority of the Jamaican population go about their business, unperturbed by the daily doses of gore that headline newscasts.

Visitors to the island continue to be amazed at how a people living in blood-soaked surroundings, under such dire economic conditions and unbridled corruption, can grit their teeth and grin, ‘Jamaica, no problem’.

Judgement on the land is intensifying, but only the discerning, whose eyes are wide open, recognise the signs. Obvious to those in the know is that as the general election nears, the desperate demand for blood by the occult and their depraved practitioners in politics has increased. The blood of the innocent is premium when stakes are this high. No one is likely to be spared, not even the newborn.

Whether or not the people of Jamaica choose to face their morbid reality, the Scriptures are very clear: when nations turn against the true and living God and embrace evil, they will suffer. Their young men, women and even their newborn will perish. A people who have become a reproach will diminish in numbers, influence, and prosperity. God will shut up the sky, and it will become like brass above their heads.  Heat will be trapped in the atmosphere, and the earth will become powder under their feet.

The shedding of innocent blood and the sacrifices to the occult, along with the worship of other gods, have enraged the heavens.

Spiritual laws have been breached, and the result is that Jamaica will pay.

We continue to pray for righteous leaders who will heed the call for three consecutive days of repentance, prayer, seeking God’s face, and turning away from wickedness that has gripped this nation and its people for far too long. Lord, please hear our prayer.
